The Ice Princess of Enceladus Station
The Ice Princess of Enceladus Station is a cyberpunk space opera about a young woman running from her past under AI surveillance—and stealing the wrong thing from the wrong people on the wrong station. It's an action story with a worldview problem at its center: Simonee Saran looks like she knows exactly what she's doing. She doesn't. Thirty chapters, complete and free. I originally wrote and self-published this novel in 2017 on KDP. I made approximately -$348 on the entire enterprise between a cover artist (which I ended up scrapping and hacking my own photoshop with the provided title font) and ad campaigns. According to KENP stats, many readers who gave it a chance, DNF’d around chapter 2. And I don’t blame them. I went on a sci-fi segue over clocks and cesium atoms—it was a mess.
So, almost a decade later, I de-published the original from KDP and decided to rewrite it chapter by chapter and release it here on Substack.
This story takes place in a collaborative universe I built with several colleagues at The Starscribes. So I have no plans for a trad-pub. I’m rewriting this for fun and practice, leveraging the skills I’ve gained over the last few years in storytelling.
Surprisingly, for a pantsed novel, the story is fairly coherent. It’s a basic action story with worldview internal genre and I’m generally happy with it. There are half a dozen PoVs in third person. I somehow thought that was normal.
I do hope it is worth your time to read. I also write song tracks to go along with the story, and I’m building a little AI generated Cyberpunk soundtrack. Those will be posted periodically, but you can find the track list here.
The Serial is now complete—and up on all the stores—including WattPad and maybe soon Royal Road (hi support people!) The original novel rang in at 63k words, and now it’s an accounting error shy of 55k. Next up is the unfinished sequel: The Cannibal of Cloud Ball 9 . Beginning sometime around June 2026 after I wrap up some other projects and put it on my whiteboard. The current draft is 25k words longer than The Ice Princess and only 50% through the story!
